ASKING SCULPTURE TO LOVE ME BACK

Part I, performance, 2015

As a resident at the Wassaic project, I made pedestals for the work of my peers. I made objects that provided context and support, the foundation for the work. This project is a study of the pedestal’s contemporary position as a standardized object, a cultural signifier, and an antiquated form.

This project is a response to the pedestal, but also a genuine effort to help other artists make their work as I make my own. The following images include work from Hallie Scott, Miles Klee, Eileen Mueller and Jamie Steele, and Aliya Bonar.
